Hi Gary and Albert,

Good piece on the value of video in communications. And delivering this content via a blog, so easily, makes Netbriefings even more interesting.

Albert, maybe one day you can share thoughts about lighting in an office situation. I noticed that just by putting a couple of clip-on incandescent lights on my monitor and pointing them at me, my webcam images were much better. I still haven't figured out how to do the back-lighting, but good front lights are making a lot of difference.

Keep up the good work,

Gary,

I started my company, multimedia for business back in 1998. I was ahead of the curve, first delivering video on CD-ROM to some large corporations, and then on web video. I still own the URL www.multimediaforbusiness.com with its listing on DMOZ and other places on the web. You may be interested in taking over this domain name which has longevity, and that is something Google rewards. Why don't we set up a time to talk on the phone? I am in the San Francisco Bay Area on PST.

My thinking is we may be able to help one another. I have moved on from producing video to writing content. I'll be out of town and out of touch from mid-Monday morning through Friday next week.

Regards,

Christopher

I am happy you enjoyed the InfoComm post. Yes, I think the fog screen is neat too!!

Hi Gary,

I enjoyed the companies you chose and showed. A couple were directly relevant to me, and I was happy about that, since I couldn't make it to InfoComm in person this year.

One idea that came to me was doing my Live Animation show on the Fog Screen. That's never been done before! So it was exciting, too.

And I'm glad I'm not the only one who kind of goofs up with using a hand mic. It's hard to get everything perfect.

And the free trial of Proclaim sounds interesting.

Thanks - Gary Jesch - CHOPS & Assoc. Live Animation - www.chops.com

Hello Roland, Thanks for your comments.

To answer your questions we use a fairly inexpensive production camera and do some minimal editing with Adobe Premier. However, the tool that really allows us to quickly and easily create the multimedia blog post (to Word Press) is a tool we have called Proclaim.

I would recommend that you check out a free trial at www.proclaimyourself.com. The free trial doesn’t have the blog posting option but the trial will introduce you to the product.

Thanks for the comment

Hi Gary - I really like your quick introductions / interviews and overview of various events. Infocom is a supr example. Great way of getting an overview of what is going on at the event. We are currently evaluating how we will work with our customers using proclaim and all the great stuff we see from you. Keep it going and push the boundaries, we'll push with you soon over here in Europe! A question that I have for you is about your capturing. You make it look very easy, off the cuff style but still very professional. What equipment do you guys use for capturing, how much editing do you guys normally have to do? Do you have to take regular various shots or do you find it actually works most time on the first go? Fell free to get somebody to contact me. Thanks in advance - lets talk!

Thanks for the candid comments. I am sure you are just kidding about the face for video comment but I agree with the voice comment. Anyway, you will be seeing younger more compelling bloggers from our company soon. Please bear with us for a while….

Won,

Happy to see that you were able to view the blog successfully from Singapore! To use the blog posting option you need an copy of Word Press blog software and a full version of proclaim. We are considering hosting Word Press and have a multi-user version. Regards and Thanks!!

Thank you Gary for introducing this video "blogging" to me. I'm very excited and impressed with this new stuff. No doubt I am on the opposite of the globe in Singapore and the quality of the whole presentation including both video and audio are very good too. I am using 1Mbps broadband. What do I need and how to do video "blogging"?

This is a pretty good example of a practical use for video "blogging" - one would have to wonder if the subject were not so near and dear to all our hearts if it would be as applicable. Gary's got a face for video - but the voice is a bit nasaly and whiney. Will we see a new crop of "video bloggin stars" pop up much like American Idol? "Whoa dude, did you watch Fred's video blog from Proctor & Gamble? He is soooo awsome. Nobody does a corportae quarterly earnings report like he does. I had chills!"

As a third-party recruiter and social media expert, things like multimedia for business is the only thing I look for now-a-days. If I want to be different from all the other 1,000s of recruiters in the Twin Cities, I need to incorporate things like this into my recruiting efforts. I have already started, but now that the demand is growing, I am hoping to start utilizing more customizable, provider-based solutions. The only downfall is that often times employers don't see the value, and that is where I face lots of setbacks. I look forward to following this blog and hearing about your ideas.
