InfoComm 2008 Interview Highlights
I went to InfoComm 2008 last week which showcased technology solutions required to build critical AV and information communication systems. This was a huge audio visual tradeshow and took up three halls of the Las Vegas convention center.
The video clip below shows interview highlights of some of the exciting technologies shown on the expo floor.
- * Digital Signage (Wireless Ronin Technologies, C-nario, Litefast, and IDEX USA)
- * Unified Collaboration (Smart Technologies and MediaPOINTE )
- * Video Conferencing (Life Size and Polycom)
- * Large Venue Display (Extron and Sony)
- * Other Innovative Technologies (FogScreen, GlobalMedia, VER and ViewCast)
FogScreen had a really cool walkthrough projection screen which created the illusion of real video floating in mid air. I haven’t seen anything like it before.

Hi Gary - I really like your quick introductions / interviews and overview of various events. Infocom is a supr example. Great way of getting an overview of what is going on at the event. We are currently evaluating how we will work with our customers using proclaim and all the great stuff we see from you. Keep it going and push the boundaries, we’ll push with you soon over here in Europe! A question that I have for you is about your capturing. You make it look very easy, off the cuff style but still very professional. What equipment do you guys use for capturing, how much editing do you guys normally have to do? Do you have to take regular various shots or do you find it actually works most time on the first go? Fell free to get somebody to contact me. Thanks in advance - lets talk!

Hello Roland, Thanks for your comments.
To answer your questions we use a fairly inexpensive production camera and do some minimal editing with Adobe Premier. However, the tool that really allows us to quickly and easily create the multimedia blog post (to Word Press) is a tool we have called Proclaim.
I would recommend that you check out a free trial at http://www.proclaimyourself.com. The free trial doesn’t have the blog posting option but the trial will introduce you to the product.

Hi Gary,
I enjoyed the companies you chose and showed. A couple were directly relevant to me, and I was happy about that, since I couldn’t make it to InfoComm in person this year.
One idea that came to me was doing my Live Animation show on the Fog Screen. That’s never been done before! So it was exciting, too.
And I’m glad I’m not the only one who kind of goofs up with using a hand mic. It’s hard to get everything perfect.
And the free trial of Proclaim sounds interesting.
